Square Group and Viabuild: Building the Future Together

Square Group and Viabuild are shaping their future with confidence. Square Group joins as a strategic partner, acquiring the shares of the Verhaeren family (Vermec/CMGInvest), who owned a 50% stake. The Deckx family retains the other 50% of the shares and remains firmly on board. This partnership ensures the continuity and trusted approach of Viabuild. The infrastructure company is ready for the future.

With this collaboration, Viabuild reinforces its ambitious vision. Viabuild and Square Group complement each other perfectly. The expertise of both groups strengthens Viabuild, positioning it as an even more robust and comprehensive player, firmly anchored in the heart of Belgium. CEO Michael Boriau, who, together with his experienced management team, is building the company’s sustainable future, states: "Thanks to our enterprising Viabuilders, we can take on impressive and diverse projects. Together with our new partner, we will continue on this path."

In recent years, Viabuild has evolved from a traditional road construction company into a complete infrastructure specialist, focusing on increasingly complex and large-scale projects. Square Group has also experienced significant growth, with its subsidiary Aclagro active in infrastructure works, demolition, and soil remediation, alongside AC Materials. Recently, Meulders (Heist-op-den-Berg) was acquired, further expanding AC Materials’ expertise in concrete production and construction waste recycling, now operating across five locations in Flanders.

“By acquiring a stake in Viabuild, both groups reinforce each other, creating a €340M revenue powerhouse with the potential to participate in major PPP projects (Public-Private Partnerships) that Flanders will launch in the coming years,” says Jean-Marie de Buck van Overstraeten, Executive Chairman of Square Group.

Viabuild and Square Group are fully committed to innovation, sustainability, and talent development. Building together, excelling together—that remains the core mission of both partners. This share transfer is more than just a milestone; it represents a new horizon filled with opportunities. Viabuild and Square Group are currently determining the next steps in the acquisition process. The transaction is subject to prior approval by the Belgian Competition Authority.
